The 11th edition of Firarròs, the tapas and tasting fair especially dedicated to rice, will be held at the Passeig de l'Estació in Sueca from September 11th to 13th. The event has established itself as an unmissable date for lovers of local and traditional gastronomy, with objectives such as promoting rice culture, highlighting quality agri-food products from the area, boosting local gastronomy, stimulating economic activity in the hospitality and food sector, and enhancing Sueca's tourist appeal.
The fair's presentation included the mayor of Sueca, Julián Sáez; the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Teresa Ribes; and the event coordinator, Carles Galletero. Ribes highlighted the introduction of a coordinator for the fair's promotion and encouraged citizens to participate. Galletero described Firarròs as "the cradle of tapas and rice tasting, and a great annual festival in homage to rice" and announced the intention to consolidate the ‘firabus’, an initiative to attract groups from other municipalities.
Mayor Julián Sáez thanked the organizers for their work and praised the consolidation of Firarròs, which "embarks on its second decade with great enthusiasm, adapting to current times and new communication and dissemination methods". Sáez emphasized the perfect pairing between Firarròs and the 65th International Valencian Paella Contest of Sueca, which takes place the same weekend.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy a wide variety of recipes made with rice and other local products. Coinciding with the 65th International Valencian Paella Contest on Sunday, September 13th, all Firarròs stands will also offer paella portions following the traditional recipe of the renowned contest.
Participating establishments include Restaurant Sequial 20, Forn del Crist, Carnisseria Fina, Cuina de Mare, Amar lo fresco, Pequeñín, Madura Burguer, L’Hortamar, Shenlong Fusió, La Ambrosía Street, Gofres Party, and Mes de Bon Dia. The inauguration will be on Friday, September 11th, at 8 PM. The opening hours on Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th, will be from 11 AM to 4 PM and from 7 PM to 11 PM. The fair will also feature live performances by the Societat Blues de la Ribera Baixa.
