The city of Burriana will conclude the 2026 Misericordia Festivities on Sunday, September 13th, with a special production titled 'Burriana. Our History, Our Essence'. This show, under the direction of renowned guitarist and composer Pedro Navarro, promises a multidisciplinary evening featuring live symphonic music, dance, flamenco, and equestrian performances, complemented by audiovisual elements.
The production will involve the collaboration of the Burriana Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and dance students from the Rafel Martí de Viciana Municipal Arts Center, led by Ana Llopis. The City Council has promoted this initiative to close the patron saint festivities, using Navarro's guitar as a unifying thread to review key aspects of the local history, culture, and traditions.
The spectacle will integrate various artistic disciplines, including flamenco performances and audiovisual projections. Music will be performed live by the local orchestra, while the municipal center's dance students will present choreography specifically designed for the production. These acts will be combined with Navarro's guitar playing, flamenco, lighting effects, and projections.
The show's content will include tributes to significant figures in Burriana's cultural heritage. Special dedications will be made to the flamenco singer Juan Varea, a native of the city, as well as references to Cardinal Vicent Enrique y Tarancón, pyrotechnician Reyes Martí, and the legacy of guitarist Francesc Tàrrega. Equestrian acts will be incorporated into the scenic narrative.
To enhance the audience's experience, two giant screens will be installed to broadcast the performance live, allowing for better viewing of the musical acts, dances, and other numbers. The production will also feature a dedicated technical setup for lighting and sound.
The Councilor for Festivities, Paloma Boix, has emphasized the importance of the participation of Pedro Navarro and local cultural entities, stating that the goal is to offer a unique production for the city. Boix added that the show aims to connect different generations through Burriana's history and cultural heritage.
