The València Provincial Council is supporting the Ontinyent Giants and Cabets Festival, one of the main events for popular and festive culture in the city. The festival, held this October, will bring together figures and groups from various regions. The first vice-president of the provincial corporation, Natàlia Enguix, attended the presentation of the 2026 Festival, which unveiled the poster by artist Cesc Biosca, the board game “Orelluts!”, and the exhibition “Els menuts que fan gran la Festa” (The little ones who make the Festival great).
Enguix particularly highlighted the Council's support for the exhibition, a family-friendly and participatory display designed to introduce the heritage of the Giants and Cabets to children and the general public. This exhibition features interactive elements such as a play area, a giant puzzle, augmented reality, a memory panel, and the opportunity to explore the interior of 'La Tartuga' (The Turtle), one of the most representative figures of Ontinyent's festive heritage. "As the first vice-president of the València Provincial Council, I am very pleased to have been able to help and support our city's Festival with financial aid so that this exhibition could come to light," stated Enguix.
The vice-president emphasized the importance of preserving this intergenerational tradition, which faces the challenge of continuing to reach younger generations. "It is a tradition we have received from previous generations, and we have a responsibility to care for it and pass it on to new generations," she noted. Enguix also publicly acknowledged the work of the Association of Giants and Cabets of Ontinyent and its president, Salva Serrallé, as well as everyone involved in preparing this edition of the Festival, describing it as a "very ambitious" project.
During the event, the official poster for the 2026 Festival was presented, created by international artist Cesc Biosca, who represents Ontinyent's textile tradition in his work. The Council's support is part of its commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural and festive heritage of the province's municipalities.
The 2026 Festival will feature the 5th Ontinyent Giants and Cabets Gathering, the 3rd Beastly Figures Gathering, and the 9th Giants and Cabets Gathering throughout October, with participants from various regions. The program also includes inclusive measures like a 'Quiet Space' during parades, designed for individuals with acoustic hypersensitivity. Enguix thanked the Ontinyent City Council, the Departments of Festivals and Culture, and the organizing association for their involvement.
