The 11th International Medieval Latin Congress (Medialatinitas XI – Apocalypsis), to be held in Oviedo from September 6 to 9, 2027, will dedicate a special tribute to Antoni Biosca i Bas, Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Alicante.

Posthumously, Professor Antoni Biosca i Bas retains his role as representative and member for the Iberian Peninsula (2022-2027) of the International Medieval Latin Committee (IMLC), the international body under whose auspices these meetings have been held since 1988.
Participating in the commemorative event will be Juan Fco. Mesa Sanz, Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Alicante (UA), who served as a member of the IMLC from 2017 to 2022, handing over to Professor Biosca; and Marina Maciá Ortuño, a professor at the UA and former direct student of Professor Biosca. Both are members of the Research Group Corpus Documentale Latinum Valencie (CODOLVA).
The Medialatinitas international colloquia are held periodically every three or four years, with previous editions hosted in cities such as Heidelberg, Florence, Cambridge, Santiago de Compostela, Toronto, Naples/Benevento, Lyon, Vienna, Prague, and Nuremberg. According to Professor Juan Francisco Mesa, these gatherings allow the international community of medieval Latin researchers to share knowledge and collaborate on topics of intellectual and cultural interest.
The upcoming edition in Oviedo will focus on the theme of the Apocalypse, considered particularly relevant in Spain due to the cultural value of the Beatus manuscripts. The congress will foster interdisciplinarity, cultural interaction, and connections between different media, while maintaining the philological spirit centered on the study of language and literature preserved in manuscripts.
The academic program will include plenary lectures by distinguished specialists such as Jan Ziolkowski (Harvard University), Greti Dinkova-Bruun (University of Toronto), Tino Licht (Universität Heidelberg), and Cándida Ferrero Hernández (Autonomous University of Barcelona). The closing session will feature a toast by Prof. Dr. Walter Berschin.
