The l'Alfàs del Pi City Council begins its October 9th commemoration tomorrow with an afternoon dedicated to local culture, history, and heritage, featuring the presentation of a book on Serra Gelada and a literary route.

The special October 9th program in l'Alfàs del Pi will commence tomorrow, Wednesday, at 7:00 PM with the presentation of the book ‘La Serra Gelada, un paisatge cultural mil·lenari’ (Serra Gelada, a Millennial Cultural Landscape). Authors Carolina Frías Castillejo and Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi will explain the contents of this publication, the result of a collective effort by specialists.
The book delves into various aspects of Serra Gelada and its surroundings, covering geology, biodiversity, paleontology, toponymy, history, and heritage sites such as the Punta Albir lighthouse and several historical towers. It also includes studies on flora, terrestrial and marine fauna, and the management of the natural park.
Following this, at 8:00 PM, the literary route ‘Allarga el pas. Un passeig literari per l’Alfàs del Pi’ (Extend Your Step. A Literary Walk through l'Alfàs del Pi) will take place, guided by Juan Vicente Devesa. Starting from La Creueta, the route offers a cultural journey through the municipality, connecting it to its history and identity.
The Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Sandra Gómez, has invited residents to participate in the activities, emphasizing that the program aims to highlight local culture, traditions, and heritage while promoting citizen engagement. Gómez stressed the importance of starting with cultural proposals that enhance understanding of the local environment and municipality.
The celebration will continue on Thursday, October 8th, with recreational and gastronomic activities, including popular games, a pebrereta contest, and a communal picnic (sopar de cabasset) in Plaça de les Escoles Velles. The evening will conclude with a performance by Bandeta La Lira and a DJ set by Moskıyü.
Friday, October 9th, the Day of the Valencian Community, will feature the main events. In the morning, a family workshop ‘Cavaller/a de Jaume I’ (Knight of James I) will be held, followed by the reading of a manifesto by Vicent Llorca Mascarell and an awards ceremony. Traditional dances accompanied by xirimita and tabalet, a candy firecracker display, and a popular appetizer will round off the morning's events.
The October 9th program will conclude at 4:30 PM with the children's theater performance ‘Els secrets de Mr. Stromboli’ (Mr. Stromboli's Secrets). Additionally, until October 11th, the Municipal Library hosts an exhibition of commemorative drawings created by primary school students from local schools.
