The Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) has tendered for 132.1 million euros the main section works of the Barranco de la Saleta, a key project for flood prevention in l'Horta Sud.

The Directorate General for Water, part of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, has opened the bidding period for the construction of this infrastructure, which has a budget of 132,116,262.90 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 42 months. This project, considered one of the main flood prevention actions in the province of Valencia, aims to channel the barranco's floodwaters to the new Turia riverbed.
The overall solution, according to the CHJ, will require a total investment of 150 million euros. The current contract covers the main section, while a second project, budgeted at approximately 14 million euros, will be tendered shortly to definitively connect the action with the new Turia riverbed under the V-30.
Interested companies have until September 22nd to submit their bids. The opening of technical offers is scheduled for September 24th, and the economic offers for October 29th.
The tendered project includes an underground conduit of almost four kilometers in length, formed by large reinforced concrete frames. This conduit will cross the industrial estate and skirt the urban area of Aldaia. One of the most complex points will be the crossing under the València-Utiel railway line, which will be resolved by an underground jacking to avoid interrupting rail traffic.
Additionally, a hydraulic greenway of approximately three kilometers will be created, integrating into the agricultural landscape of the 'huerta'. This greenway will have a dual function: completing the hydraulic route of the floodwaters and providing an environmental connection.
The action covers five municipalities: Aldaia, Xirivella, Alaquàs, Quart de Poblet, and València. The main objective is to improve flood protection by channeling the barranco's floodwaters away from the most exposed urban areas, thereby benefiting a significant population.
The final section, connecting to the new Turia riverbed by crossing the V-30, will be carried out in a second phase due to its technical complexity, requiring coordination with the State Road Authority.
