The interpretation center of the Grau Vell Fortín, named ‘Sagunt i la Mar’, has received a notable response in its first month of activity, registering a total of 992 visits and 348 attendances. These figures confirm its capacity to integrate as an important element in Sagunto's tourist and cultural offering.
Regarding visitor origin, over half a thousand were local residents. The Community of Madrid has positioned itself as the main foreign source market for the Fortín, with nearly 300 visits, followed by 183 people from other parts of the Valencian Community. National tourism accounted for over 95% of total visits, while from other countries, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, and several Asian nations were the primary origins.
This positive reception occurs amidst high tourist activity in the city. Hotel occupancy reached full capacity on specific days in July and the first week of August, as well as during the week of August 10th to 16th, coinciding with the interest generated by the eclipse.
These results highlight two key factors: Sagunto's ability to attract visitors from other autonomous communities and the incorporation of new spaces that enrich and diversify the tourist experience. The Grau Vell Fortín thus joins other heritage treasures in the city that have seen intense activity during the summer.
The first month of operation for ‘Sagunt i la Mar’ has served to consolidate this space as a point of interest within the heritage offering of the capital of El Camp de Morvedre.
