The city of Alcoy has now defined the names who will provide the music and imagery for the 2027 Moors and Christians Festivities, which will conclude the celebration of the 750th anniversary of Saint George's patronage.

Composer and musician José del Valle will be in charge of conducting the Festivities' Anthem on April 23rd, Music Day. Meanwhile, artist Lola Llopis Micó will create the announcement poster, to be unveiled on Thursday, April 1st. Both commissions celebrate the connection with Alcoy and its Festivity.
The Moors and Christians Festivities will take place from April 24th to 26th, 2027, culminating a jubilee year dedicated to the 750th anniversary of Saint George's patronage. For José del Valle, this appointment holds a special family dimension, as his father, uncle, and wife have also conducted the Anthem in previous years. Del Valle, who serves as Musical Advisor for the Association of Saint George, has expressed his excitement and surprise at receiving this recognition.
José del Valle, born in Alcoy in 1976, is a composer and professor of viola and chamber music. His career as a composer has been recognized with awards such as the Francisco Guerrero Marín from the XXI Young Composers Award Fundación Autor-CDMC 2010. In parallel, he has developed a career as a performer and educator, being a member of the M. I. Academia de la Música Valenciana.
Lola Llopis Micó, an Alcoy artist trained at the Alcoy School of Art and Design, will be the poster's author. Her career includes participation in collective exhibitions such as 'Artists of Alcoy for the 750th Anniversary' and the creation of posters for various cultural and institutional events in the city, including the Alcoy Modernista Fair.
Llopis approaches this challenge with the aim that the work connects with the essence of the Festivity. "I will dedicate all my effort to the work that is already taking shape in my mind and that I hope will capture the living essence of Our Festivity," she stated. The poster will be unveiled on April 1st.
The Councilor for Festivities, Jordi Martínez, highlighted that the selection of Del Valle and Llopis reflects a "very Alcoyano perspective" to conclude the 750th-anniversary year. He emphasized the importance of the Anthem and José del Valle's family history, as well as the confidence in Lola Llopis's creative ability to capture the vision of Alcoy.
