The University of Alicante (UA) has participated in the final conference of the European project Elevate-HER, held in Senegal, to consolidate support for the professional development of women researchers and promote equality in scientific careers.

The project, coordinated by the UA, concluded its activity with a meeting at the Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiès (UIDT), where participating institutions validated measures to preserve results and promote equality in scientific careers. The event took place from October 14 to 16 and was attended by Rosa María Martínez Espinosa, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Cooperation for Development at the UA.
The UA led the project through its Office of Institutional Project Management (OGPI), in collaboration with four Senegalese universities: Université Amadou Mahtar Mbow (UAM), Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiès (UIDT), Université du Sine Saloum Elhadj Ibrahima Niass (USSEIN), and Université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis (UGB). Also participating were the Université Jean Monnet from France and the Spanish entity La Xixa – Creative Social Innovation.
The Elevate-HER project, part of the European Erasmus+ KA: CBHE program, focused on strengthening the professional development of women researchers in Senegal through training, mentoring, individual development plans, and collaboration with higher education institutions. The aim was to improve their academic and scientific opportunities and create more inclusive and equitable university environments.
Among the proposed continuity lines are the consolidation of mentoring programs and the promotion of regulations and support measures to facilitate women's access to positions of responsibility and university leadership. The incorporation of these actions is key to transforming the project's learnings into lasting changes.
