Orihuela has inaugurated its stand at Alicante Gastronómica 2026, a key event taking place until October 5th at IFA-Fira Alacant, aiming to promote its culinary richness and tourist identity.
The Tourism Department of the Orihuela City Council participates once again in this significant event to showcase the municipality's gastronomic wealth, its local products, and to consolidate Orihuela's identity as a tourist destination.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, along with the Councilor for Tourism, Gonzalo Montoya, accompanied by the first deputy mayor, Manuel Mestre, and the councilors for Health and Sports, Irene Celdrán and Víctor Sigüenza.
The new exhibition space has been designed to bring Orihuela's identity closer to visitors through a visual proposal where products from the local 'huerta' (vegetable garden) take center stage. Thus, gastronomy is presented as a vehicle to also showcase other attractions of the municipality, closely linked to its culture, heritage, and tradition.
“
"This year we wanted to place the huerta and the products that are part of our gastronomy at the center of our presence."
“
"Those who visit our space will get to know and take away a sample of Orihuela's gastronomic culture, because our gastronomy is also part of our culture and our identity."
“
"Orihuela has an extraordinary heritage: cultural, historical, and also gastronomic. That is the essence of the proposal we are presenting this year at Alicante Gastronómica, a fair that speaks not only of the way of eating, but also of the way of living."
“
"The city has here a representation worthy of everything our municipality can offer."
One of the notable novelties of this edition is the incorporation of a tourist information point, from which visitors will be attended and provided with detailed information about the municipality's main resources and attractions. Orihuela's stand, located in a prominent position within Pavilion 2, aims to enhance its visibility and facilitate visitor access.
During the fair, Restaurante Pico del Águila and Cerveza Segura will be responsible for delighting the public with the flavors of Orihuela, offering a representative sample of local gastronomy and products. The presence at Alicante Gastronómica will thus allow showcasing the diversity and culinary richness of Orihuela, inviting attendees to discover the municipality, its heritage, its culture, and its 'huerta'.
