The Ontinyent City Council has launched a citizen survey to gather proposals and needs regarding the municipality's green spaces, as part of the drafting of the Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity Plan.

The initiative aims to analyze the current state of Ontinyent's urban and natural environment and define future actions for improvement. The Councilor for Sustainability, Sayo Gandia, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in designing spaces that reflect the city's reality and make it greener and healthier.
The plan, developed by the company Tecnigral, will study the elements of the green infrastructure, including gardens, trees, and vegetated areas, regardless of their ownership. The analysis will assess the condition, distribution, species diversity, and ecological connectivity of these spaces, as well as their contribution to biodiversity and environmental quality.
Based on this diagnosis, improvements will be proposed to increase vegetation cover, optimize maintenance, design new plantings, and select suitable species, considering climate change adaptation and environmental benefits such as pollution reduction and energy savings.
This consultation is the first step in a broader participatory process. The cost of the survey, which will be available until November 8th and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, is covered by SAV, the contractor for municipal park and garden maintenance, as an enhancement to their contract.
