Bocairent celebrated International Libraries Day on October 24th with the special program “Viu la biblio!”. This year marked the eleventh edition of the initiative, featuring a total of twelve events held between October 19th and 29th.
The program highlighted the role of the local reading agency and libraries in general. Activities included a decoration workshop, an slogans and micro-stories contest, school visits, a panel recommending writers, literary discussions, a children's storytelling session, a gift distribution, a meeting with readers from Godelleta, a book presentation, and recognition for the best readers.
The presentation, organized by the Museu d’Etnologia de València, introduced the work “Mai no estem sols al bosc” by Ismael J. Sempere. The recognition for best readers honored Adam Moussaoui, Yasmin Moussaoui, María Ribera Ferre, and Aitana Valera Ibáñez in the children-youth category, and Paquita Ferre Vañó, Jorge Juan Mazcuñán Almerich, Antonio Sánchez Griñó, and Nati Silvestre Colomer in the adult category.
Additionally, M. José Silvestre presented a copy of the Guinness World Record book acknowledging her achievements in ultracyclism.
According to Xavi Molina, the library's activities demonstrate that it is “a vibrant space with its own initiatives”. The mayor and culture councilor emphasized that public libraries are “not just book repositories, but spaces for meeting and social cohesion”, highlighting the contribution of librarians and users who “bring the facilities to life and give meaning to the service”.
