The new House of Culture 'Salvador Cardona Miralles' will open its doors on Saturday, September 12th, marking a culmination in a process that began in 2009. After several delays, the finishing works resumed in 2023, with a total investment of 1,162,741 euros, co-financed by the Generalitat Valenciana (633,437 €) and the Oliva City Council (529,304 €).
Recently, the center's furniture was put out to tender for 112,512 euros, and a budget of 70,000 euros was approved for technical equipment. The mayor of Oliva, Yolanda Pastor, highlighted that the completion of this building has been a municipal priority, preserving historical heritage and providing citizens with a first-class cultural center. She thanked the involvement of various administrations, municipal technicians, and the architect Salvador Lara Ortega, dean of the College of Architects of the Valencian Community, for a project that blends tradition and innovation.
The project integrates the baroque style of the Palau dels Orduña (late 18th century) with the adjacent 'Centro Olivense' building (from the 1950s), capturing Oliva's social memory. The Councilor for Culture, Teresa Tur, expressed her satisfaction with the creation of a cultural epicenter long-awaited by the community.
The facility will feature an exhibition hall, two conference rooms, the Department of Culture's offices, and a bar. The official inauguration will take place on Saturday, September 12th, at 7:30 PM, with musical performances, institutional speeches, and a retrospective exhibition of the pictorial work of Miquel Vicens, named Favorite Son.
The City Council invites all residents to participate in this significant event for the city.
