This new space, featuring a metallic structure measuring 45 meters long by 28 meters wide (1,260 m² built area), will be equipped to host various activities such as sports events, markets, patron saint festivals, craft fairs, and gastronomic events. It will be separated from the parking area by a pedestrian walkway.
This project marks the second phase of interventions at the Fairgrounds. Last year, an investment of approximately 146,000 euros was used to condition the area, including paving access roads and the parking zone, and constructing public restrooms and a storage facility.
Concurrently, the municipal executive has been processing modification 11 of the Subsidiary Regulations since 2022. This modification changes the land classification of the 5,955 m² plot, located west of the town, to enable the Fairgrounds. The urban planning change, which has had a favorable environmental and territorial strategic report since June 2023, adjusts the urban land limit.
The Artana council has also promoted three other significant urban planning changes in the last two years. In May 2024, modification 12 was approved, reclassifying a chamfer on Carrer Alcudia de Veo from residential to road network. Additionally, a plot previously zoned as green space will now be residential, while another parcel on Carrer Buenavista, formerly residential, will become green space to preserve the castle's view.
Modification 13, approved in July 2024, allows for a new connection from Carrer Buenavista to the path leading to the castle, creating a viewpoint and opening possibilities for housing construction on a currently blocked plot.
Finally, article 99 of the Subsidiary Regulations has been amended to facilitate the establishment of farms and livestock operations. The new regulation sets minimum distances from the urban center: 3 km for pig farms, 300 meters from paths, and 100 meters from public waterways. For other livestock operations and zoological centers, distances are 1 km (urban center), 100 meters (paths), and 50 meters (waterways). Poultry farms and self-consumption farms with up to five animals per species have a 500-meter distance, while facilities without manure, such as equine or pet training centers, can be located 25 meters from the urban core.
