Under the theme «Reconnecting with Pedagogy: A Critical, Practical, and Ethical Vision of Educational Technology», the event, organized by the Research Group in Teaching, Learning, and Technology (GREAT) of the UJI and the EDUTEC Association, is being held for the first time in Castelló until November 6th.
At the opening, UJI rector Jesús Lancis highlighted the institution's innovative and critical vocation in the face of advancing artificial intelligence (AI), advocating for ethical and responsible use to train professionals capable of asking questions that machines will not.
The inaugural lecture, by Melissa Bond (University College London), addressed the impact of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI in higher education, advocating for rigorous use in evidence synthesis and reducing article selection time.
The first day included a panel discussion with experts such as Wilfried Admiraal (Oslo Metropolitan University), Victoria Marín Juarros (Universitat de Lleida), Cassio Cabral Santos (Polytechnic Institute of Santarém), and Linda Castañeda (University of Murcia), who discussed student epistemic agency, critical digital competence, AI threats (biases, plagiarism), and decision-making power in the new technological ecosystem.
The «EDUTEC 2026 Report» was also presented, analyzing AI adoption from school to university, warning of challenges like the digital divide and biases, and urging technological integration with pedagogical sense, equity, and ethical governance.
