The Third Vice Presidency and Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory, and Recovery has implemented this measure to introduce a structural improvement to the service. The action has been coordinated with the City Council of Castelló de la Plana to reduce traffic impact and reconcile the works with service operation. The final phase includes the execution of the cycle lane and other minor works.
The Councilor for Mobility, Gonzalo Romero, highlighted the commitment of the Valencian Generalitat to the city and the Tram, which last year was used by over 3.2 million passengers. He emphasized that the mobility improvement in this high-traffic area connects Castelló's center with its beaches, thus fulfilling promises to the citizens.
The new service plan includes 614,514 annual kilometers, an increase of 16.23%. Frequencies on the UJI-Grau section will change from 12 to 10 minutes between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM on weekdays, and 15 minutes between 8:15 PM and 10:00 PM. On weekends, frequencies will range from 15 to 30 minutes.
The UJI-El Pinar service will provisionally run along the general use lane of Ferrandis Salvador avenue during the works. The Grau-Serradal service will be maintained daily until the completion of the tram platform works. Additionally, services between the UJI and Parc Ribalta will be reinforced during periods of high demand.
