The agreement was signed by the mayor of L'Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques, and the president of the Local Committee of the Spanish Red Cross in L'Alfàs, Mara Martínez. Through this agreement, the Red Cross will make its infrastructure and human and material resources available to the Town Hall to carry out social and community actions. Areas of collaboration include promoting volunteering, complementary home help services, and promoting healthy habits, especially in situations of risk due to heatwaves.
Vicente Arques highlighted the importance of maintaining and strengthening collaboration with social entities that work directly with citizens, emphasizing the Red Cross's trajectory and commitment. He thanked the organization for its constant work and its willingness to collaborate with the Town Hall, stressing that "their solidarity commitment and their response capacity are fundamental to building a more just, closer, and committed society for people".
For her part, Mara Martínez highlighted the humanitarian and essentially voluntary nature of the Red Cross, an institution that since its foundation in 1864 maintains its commitment to helping people. She thanked the municipal support and emphasized that "volunteering is the essence of the Red Cross", as it is the people who altruistically dedicate their time and effort to helping others.
The Spanish Red Cross is a humanitarian institution of a voluntary nature and public interest that bases a large part of its activity on citizen participation. Its work model allows for the implementation of projects and programs to address both specific social needs and situations of vulnerability requiring continuous support.
Both entities agreed in pointing out that this agreement represents a further step in the shared commitment to the well-being of the population and to addressing the social needs of the municipality, leaving open the possibility of expanding collaboration through future initiatives and new areas of action.
