The 36th Mozartmanía Festival in L'Alfàs del Pi hosted the performance of the Cuarteto Macondo last Saturday, presenting an innovative repertoire at the Casa de Cultura auditorium.

The ensemble, based in Alicante and Murcia and led by violinist Antonio García Egea, offered a different perspective on chamber music. The quartet, comprising two violins, a viola, and a cello, specializes in reinterpreting major pop and rock hits, as well as well-known film soundtracks, using the classic string quartet format.
For this event, the Cuarteto Macondo curated a program that traversed various musical languages. Their performance combined the virtuosity of Baroque pieces with waltzes and recognizable melodies from cinema, allowing the audience to discover familiar compositions through a new sound and introducing the string quartet format to diverse audiences.

The proposal allowed for the discovery of known compositions from a different sonic perspective and brought the string quartet format closer to diverse audiences.

This performance is part of the 36th edition of the Mozartmanía Festival, which this year features four major musical events. The program began on October 3rd with the Camerata del Festival Mozartmanía, offering a musical journey from Mozart to pop.
The festival will continue on Saturday, October 17th, with a performance by the Orquesta de las Jornadas Hispano-Noruegas (Spanish-Norwegian Days Orchestra), who will perform Antonio Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons'. The festival's closing event will take place on Saturday, October 31st, with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 'Requiem KV 626', a significant work in the sacred repertoire.
The 'Requiem' will be performed by the Orquesta Art Creare and a choir of approximately 50 voices, comprising the Coro Tutte Voci and the Coral Juan Ramón Herrero. They will be accompanied by a symphony orchestra of 35 musicians, four soloists, and a musical director.
Through this programming, the Mozartmanía Festival reaffirms its commitment to bringing classical music to the public with proposals that blend major repertoire works with formats and selections designed to connect with different audiences.
