The award, to be presented at the institutional ceremony, highlights the work carried out by this cultural association over nearly half a century. Valencian has been a constant presence in their publications, events, and the commission's daily life.
The Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo, emphasized the falla's contribution to making the language accessible to different generations, transforming Fallas activities into a space for learning and cultural transmission.
A notable example of this effort is the 47 'llibrets' (Fallas booklets) the commission has published entirely in Valencian. These publications have involved members of the commission, fostering language learning and written expression among all age groups.
Furthermore, the scripts for exaltations and presentations are delivered in Valencian, prepared by the falleros themselves. This collective work facilitates intergenerational knowledge exchange, with younger members also contributing to the learning of older ones.
Sagredo expressed gratitude for the commitment and contribution to Paterna's cultural heritage, noting the hours of dedication and talent from individuals involved in each booklet and presentation.
The insignia also recognizes the deep roots of Grups de la Mercé in their neighborhood, where the commission serves as a community meeting point, and their efforts to keep traditions alive and relevant for new generations.
