Sculptor and professor Paco Corell received the 2026 Foios Cultural Award at an event held on Sunday at the Foios House of Culture. This award recognizes his artistic and teaching career, as well as his connection to the municipality where he was born.
The Foios Cultural Award, celebrating its 10th edition this year, aims to recognize the careers of relevant individuals from the town, particularly in the fields of art and literature. The Culture Council and the Department of Culture have granted the award to Corell, a native of Foios, highlighting his generosity in creation and knowledge transmission.
The Mayor and Councilor for Culture, Sergi Ruiz, emphasized Corell's connection to Foios and his generosity. «He has donated part of his work to Foios; it's a way of saying that what he has created wants to be part of the memory and heritage of the town that saw him born», he pointed out.
Indeed, this year Foios received a significant donation of the artist's production. A cultural project has been developed around this incorporation into the municipal heritage, including the exhibition «Roig cirera, Amarillo paja», a public conversation with the artist, a visit to his studio, a guided tour of the exhibition, and the publication of a catalog, in addition to various documentation and dissemination actions.

Paco Corell thanked the recognition and the presence of all attendees. He also thanked Carles Àngel Saurí for his work in preparing the catalog of his work, stating it is «the best catalog I have ever had and will ever have».
With this award, Paco Corell joins the names that form part of the Passeig de l’Arbreda Cultural, which over ten editions has recognized individuals and groups linked to the culture and associative life of Foios.
