The city of Valencia has put an end to the twelfth edition of the Gay Games with a closing ceremony held at La Fonteta, where the handover to the Australian city of Perth was made official.

After eight days of intense activity, the capital of the Turia has bid farewell to the international sporting event dedicated to diversity. More than 10,200 athletes from 81 countries have participated in 37 different disciplines, turning the city into a space for coexistence and the promotion of inclusive values.
The event followed the usual protocol with the parade of delegations and the handover of the Gay Games Federation flag to the representatives of Perth, which will host the event in 2030. This handover symbolizes the journey of the games to the other side of the planet, reviving the Australian tradition in the sporting movement.
The day featured various musical performances and a fireworks display launched from Plaza de la Afición. The organization highlighted the high participation in this edition, which attracted thousands of visitors and generated a significant economic impact for the city's tourism and hospitality sector.
Despite the climate of coexistence at the sports venues, the celebration was marked by a context of strong political and social division at the local level, with debates over the institutional role of the City Council and the stance of various historical associations.
