Renfe will introduce 41 new Civia Series 465 units to gradually replace the 34 Series 447 trains and 7 Series 464 units, which have been in service since the 1990s. This renewal aims to increase passenger volume and improve the efficiency of metropolitan transport.
Improvements will focus on three high-demand routes: line C1 (València – Gandia), line C2 (València – Xàtiva – Moixent), and line C6 (València – Castelló). The goal is to strengthen service on these key routes for the Valencia metropolitan area.
The rollout of the new rolling stock will be phased. By the end of 2026, 22 new vehicles are expected to be operational, with the remaining 19 trains joining in 2027, completing the fleet of 41 units.
The new Civia S465 trains, composed of 5 modular coaches, will offer a capacity of up to 748 passengers, a significant increase compared to the 549 of the Series 447 and 600 of the Series 464. They also feature low-floor carriages at platform level to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, thereby enhancing overall service accessibility.
Through this upgrade, Renfe aims to raise the standards of reliability, comfort, accessibility, and efficiency in Valencia's public transport, while also reducing the average age of its train fleet.
