The city of Valencia experienced its traditional Battle of Flowers on Sunday, an event considered "unique" worldwide that filled the Alameda promenade with color. This celebration, which marks the end of the capital's Gran Feria, was characterized by a gesture of solidarity towards those affected by forest fires, particularly the one in Vall d’Uixó (Castellón). For this reason, the officials' tribune chose not to participate in the more festive part of the celebration as a sign of "institutional respect".
This celebration, dating back to 1891, involved the use of approximately 1.5 million carnation petals this year. Around 30 vehicles, including floats and light cars, paraded during the event.
Thousands of people, both residents and tourists, witnessed this festival where rackets served as weapons and shields, and the 1.5 million carnations, mainly in yellow and orange hues, became the most beautiful projectiles.
