This infrastructure will have a storage capacity of 7,200 cubic meters. The main objective is to retain rainwater during the beginning of rainfall episodes, thus preventing polluting discharges from reaching public roads and the sewage network.
The project's funding is shared between the city council, which covers 70% of the cost, and the developer of the Benimaclet PAI, which contributes the remaining 30%. The system will allow for the settling of solid waste and, once the rain has ended, pump the water in a controlled manner to the treatment plant.
The facility will include automatic cleaning, ventilation, and remote control systems, managed from the Operational Sanitation Center. According to municipal sources, this action serves to comply with state and European regulations on discharges, improving the environmental quality of the riverbeds and the Valencian coastline.
