The tender, which includes construction management, has an initial budget of 5,201,955.20 euros, plus 255,379.86 euros for management. The execution period has been set at nine months. These works are essential to house the new 4.500 series tram units from Stadler Rail València, which will progressively arrive on the Valencia network throughout next year.
The third vice-president and Minister of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory, and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus, highlighted that this action demonstrates the fulfillment of FGV's Investment Plan. He emphasized that the total investment in the 22 trams acquired from Stadler amounts to approximately 140 million euros. Of these, six will be allocated to the Alicante TRAM and the remaining 16 to Metrovalencia.
The first tram is already undergoing testing in Alicante, while the units for Valencia will begin commercial service progressively from next year. Martínez Mus added that the incorporation of these new vehicles will modernize the rolling stock and increase the capacity of the tram network, with one tram being added each month over the next 22 months.
The new units will replace the 3.800 series trains from Siemens, in service since 1994. The adaptation works at the Tarongers Workshops will include civil works, tracks, structures, equipment, electrical installations, air conditioning, fire protection, water supply and drainage, and public address systems. The BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology will be used in all phases of the project.
The new metre-gauge trams exceed 45 meters in length, offer 285 seats, and are fully accessible, with multifunctional areas and reserved seating for PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility). They will reach a maximum speed of 70 km/h, improving passenger flow and safety.
