The exhibition curators, María Gazabat and José Ayelo, will accompany attendees to delve into the contribution of Pedro Marco (1949-2022) to the design of Villena's Moors and Christians Festival. This exhibition is part of the cycle ‘Pedro Marco. The indelible mark of the draftsman’, which since March 13th has explored the trajectory of the Villena-based artist.
The exhibition focuses on Marco's role as a designer of costumes, attire, and graphic design for posters, magazines, and book covers related to the festival. During the tour, visitors can get a close look at his work on the official attire for the Nazarene Moors, the Marrucas, and the Almogávares.
His long-standing association, over forty years, with the Tuareg squad will also be highlighted, for which he annually designed their distinctive tunics and turbans. The exhibition features a significant collection of paintings with a festive theme, as well as various hand-painted fans by the artist that have been worn by mayoresses and councilwomen of the city.
The guided tour will take place on Tuesday, September 1st, at 7:00 PM, in the Exhibition Hall of Villena's House of Culture. Entry is free until full capacity. The exhibition will be open to the public until September 27th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on weekdays, except from September 4th to 10th, when it will be closed for the patron saint festivities.
