The mayor of Bejís, María José Madrid, explained that the municipality is recovering “little by little” after yesterday's severe storm. The downpour, accompanied by large hail, caused drains to become blocked, leading to floods in ground-floor homes and the town hall's main hall.
The storm registered 186.2 liters per square meter in the municipal area between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM, with a maximum of 122.8 liters in a single hour. Additionally, a wind gust of 101 kilometers per hour was recorded.
Damage includes the wall of a private residence, an access bridge to the town that is now impassable, and another with precarious passage. Roads also suffered damage from landslides and fallen trees.
The torrential storm was mainly concentrated between Bejís, Torás, and Teresa. Torás accumulated 142 liters, Calles 75.4 liters, Sinarcas 50 liters, and El Toro 47.2 liters.
In the city of Valencia, firefighters carried out 192 interventions, including fires caused by lightning and services for facades and fallen trees. In Castellón, the Consortium firefighters attended rural and forest fires, as well as five other services related to the storm episode.
