The proposals will begin development next week, from September 21st to October 5th, at the Marine Research Center of Santa Pola (CIMAR), managed by the University of Alicante. The Deputy of Culture, Juan de Dios Navarro, presented the two selected works: “Rempujo, punzón y lezna,” led by dancer and choreographer Conchi Rodríguez Martínez, and “Coser y cantar. Costuras y tramas de la memoria,” led by Morgan Blasco.
Navarro highlighted that both projects align with the call's criteria, aimed at protecting the environment and the historical-artistic and anthropological heritage of Alicante province, as well as responding to the objectives of Agenda 2030.
The project “Rempujo, punzón y lezna” investigates how manual knowledge, such as the traditional craft of net making in Santa Pola, is inscribed in the body and transmitted through practice and experience. The team, including dancers Alicia Reig Jover and Alba Alberola, sound artist Carlos Pérez Izquierdo, and anthropologist María López Carceller, focuses on the traces an occupation leaves on the body.
Meanwhile, “Coser y cantar. Costuras y tramas de la memoria,” directed by Morgan Blasco, with set designer Juan Sabas Pardo, composer Marina Etna Reche, and filmmaker Adán Aliaga, is configured as an interdisciplinary laboratory to rescue and make visible the memory of 20th-century women linked to textile crafts in Alicante province.
This second proposal utilizes object theater, performative installation, audiovisual language, and soundscape to revalue the material and immaterial heritage associated with traditional sewing and other artisanal knowledge, historically relegated from official labor narratives.
