The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) has released data indicating a 2.49% increase in the number of registered unemployed individuals in the Valencian Community during July. This rise has brought the total number of unemployed to 288,672 people.
With this increase, the Valencian Community becomes the second autonomous region with the largest rise in unemployment in absolute terms, surpassed only by Catalonia. This upturn breaks the downward trend observed in previous months, typically linked to hiring for tourist campaigns and seasonal jobs.
Compared to the same month last year, unemployment has decreased by 5,296 people, representing an annual drop of 1.80%. This suggests that, despite the monthly increase, the labor market maintains an improvement in the annual comparison.
Nationally, the number of unemployed grew by 19,517 people by the end of July, an increase of 0.85% compared to the previous month. The rise in the Valencian Community significantly exceeds the national average, both in absolute numbers and percentage.
The data reflects a dual reality: on one hand, the Valencian Community has less unemployment than a year ago; on the other hand, July has marked a slowdown in the improvement trend, with a notable increase in the number of registered unemployed individuals.
