Alicante province has consolidated its position as the main destination for international home buyers in Spain, recording the highest percentage on the entire national coastline.

According to data from the portal pisos.com, based on the quarterly report from the Association of Registrars, 44.65% of real estate transactions on the Alicante coast are carried out by foreign citizens. This figure places the Costa Blanca ahead of other high-demand areas such as Málaga, with 34.30%, and the Balearic Islands, with 28.89%.
The high presence of foreign capital has had a direct impact on property values. Over the last five years, the average price of housing on the Alicante coast has experienced an increase of 46.60%. Although this percentage is lower than that recorded in areas such as the Costa del Sol or the Balearic Islands, it is clearly well above the accumulated inflation over the same period.
The report notes that the correlation between foreign investment and rising prices remains robust in the Mediterranean arc. However, a growing trend is observed in the northern peninsula, where provinces such as Pontevedra, Asturias, or Lugo have seen their foreign demand multiply, attracted by more competitive prices compared to the Mediterranean.
