Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has completed the installation of a new elevator at the Hospital Vila stop on Line 1 of TRAM d'Alacant, improving accessibility for passengers heading to the Marina Baixa Hospital.

The new facility, now operational, comfortably bridges the height difference between the stop and the healthcare center's entrance, particularly benefiting individuals with reduced mobility. This initiative is part of FGV's ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility across the TRAM d'Alacant network.
The elevator's installation is integrated into the track duplication and electrification project between Hospital Vila and Benidorm. As part of these works, accessibility improvements have also been made at the Cala Finestrat and Terra Mítica stations.
The track duplication and electrification works covered over six kilometers of track, with a budget of approximately 40 million euros, partly funded by EU MRR funds. This project is part of FGV's 2026-2030 Action Plan, with a budget exceeding 830 million euros, aimed at modernizing and expanding the operations of Metrovalencia and TRAM d'Alacant.
The construction project also included the renovation of the track fencing along the section, the building of a new viaduct over the Barranc del Murtal, and the extension of Camí Moralet to create a healthy hiking route.
FGV is currently executing the tramway conversion works for the Benidorm-Benidorm Intermodal section of Line 9, completing the track duplication and electrification of the Hospital Vila-Benidorm stretch. These works, which began last June with a budget of over five million euros, aim to increase the transversal permeability of the railway infrastructure using solutions compatible with the tramway model.
The execution of these works will allow for the incorporation of new traffic light solutions and the adaptation of various crossing points to optimize mobility for pedestrians and vehicles, especially emergency services, around the TRAM d'Alacant route in Benidorm.
