The Elda City Council has formally requested the Department of Education to urgently execute the necessary renovation works to regularize the school canteen at CEIP Santo Negro.

The local government has sent a letter to the regional administration urging it to carry out the technical actions it has demanded from the school itself. According to the report from the Technical Construction Unit, it is essential to open a second exit door to comply with evacuation and capacity regulations based on the number of diners.
The municipal government has pointed out that this intervention is structural in nature, thus exceeding the ordinary maintenance tasks that fall under the municipal scope. The goal is to ensure safety and the continuity of the service for all students.
If these works are not carried out, the canteen's capacity will be limited to a maximum of 50 people per shift. This restriction could negatively affect the work-life balance of nearly 60 families currently using this service at the school.
