Communication does not exist as such: You have to go through the looking glass!

Psychoanalysis as a means of communication
In a society dominated by immediacy, social media, and the multiplication of exchanges, we paradoxically witness an impoverishment of human communication. We talk more and more, but we don't necessarily understand each other better. Assertive communication, deep listening, and the ability to recognize the emotions of others are becoming fundamental needs today.
For Christian Barbieux Naranjo, psychoanalysis offers an essential perspective: communication is not established solely between two conscious minds, but also between two unconscious minds. Beyond words, our desires, fears, traumatic experiences, and defense mechanisms come into play, silently conditioning our relationships.
From his research on trauma and addictive behaviors, Barbieux Naranjo highlights the importance of understanding what the individual cannot consciously express. Psychic suffering can manifest through behaviors, symptoms, or relational difficulties that sometimes constitute indirect forms of expressing internal conflicts.
Psychoanalytic listening allows us to explore these unconscious dimensions, particularly through the phenomena of transference and countertransference, fostering deeper communication and a greater understanding of oneself and others.
Ultimately, the real challenge of our time is not to communicate more, but to learn to recognize what we transmit and receive beyond words.
