The Bétera City Council has equipped its Local Police with new bulletproof vests, technical backpacks, tactical flashlights, precision targets, and safety equipment, with an investment of €32,403.80. These acquisitions are part of the Strategic Plan for Modernization and Improvement of the police force, aimed at professionalizing staff and increasing material and personal resources to ensure security in Bétera.
These new additions complement the previous provision of seven smart tablets, three vehicle and motorcycle wheel clamps, a mobile speed radar, and ten TETRA radios for the Bétera Civil Protection group. The total investment exceeds €71,100 during the current year 2026, under the same strategic plan which foresees further actions.
The Mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, emphasized that the Governing Team's commitment is to provide the Local Police with the best possible resources, both material and personal, to improve public service delivery and the quality of life for Bétera's citizens. She noted that in the past year, more personal resources have been allocated, and significant investments have been made in materials and the latest technology.
The new bulletproof vests feature ballistic, anti-knife, and anti-puncture protection, with continuous panels and a front and top MOLLE system for attaching accessories and personal cameras, as well as a rear rescue handle.
The tactical flashlights include a diffuser cone for night operations, traffic control, and emergency signaling. They feature high-power LED technology with a lifespan exceeding 50,000 hours, USB charging, and an effective range of 250 meters.
The operational technical backpacks will allow Local Police officers to transport official service equipment uniformly, improving operational efficiency and the secure storage of materials such as technical equipment, administrative supplies, transmission gear, and waterproof clothing.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Manuel Pérez, highlighted the "continuous line of improvements and modernization" being carried out within the Local Police, which directly contributes to enhancing public service and, consequently, the quality of life for all citizens of Bétera.
Within the Strategic Plan, upcoming provisions include the renewal of equipment and the vehicle fleet, with the addition of two 'pick-up' type vehicles, as well as specific machinery for Civil Protection, such as bilge pumps and chainsaws.
