The Valencian Council of Transparency (CVT) has sanctioned the Sagunto health department for its refusal to provide information requested by the Health and Socio-sanitary Sectors Federation of CC OO in El Camp de Morvedre. The union's general secretary, Minerva Almor, highlighted that the data requested directly impacts care quality and working conditions, rights to which unions have enhanced access due to their oversight role.
The requests, initiated in February 2025, included detailed staff occupancy lists, with full names, and data on waiting lists in Primary Care, external consultations, and specialties, broken down by month. The Sagunto health department attempted to deny access, arguing it was 'reserved data' and that partial information was already provided to the staff board.
However, the CVT relied on current legislation, such as the Valencian Community's Transparency Law 1/2022, to recognize the union's right to access the information. The Council urges the Conselleria de Sanitat (Health Ministry) to provide the requested data within one month.
Almor emphasized that transparency should not depend on the will of public managers, and that the union will continue to use legal tools to ensure access and oversight of information. Meanwhile, Sergio Villalba, general secretary of CC OO in El Camp de Morvedre, added that a strong public healthcare system requires decisions based on verifiable data.
The union stresses that its aim is not confrontation, but to ensure that health planning can be evaluated with objective criteria and that decisions affecting patients and professionals are made with maximum transparency.
