The Valencia Provincial Council has allocated nearly €20,000 in aid for animal welfare in municipalities across El Camp de Morvedre, intended for the purchase of essential equipment.

The Valencia Provincial Council has granted aid exceeding €20,000 to enhance animal welfare in various towns within El Camp de Morvedre. These subsidies aim to help municipalities meet their obligations under the animal welfare laws that took effect in 2023.
The funds will be distributed among Faura (€4,749), Canet d'en Berenguer (€3,980), Benifairó de les Valls (€2,378), Quartell (€2,144), Estivella (€2,088), Albalat dels Tarongers (€1,882), Quart de les Valls (€1,346), Alfara a la Baronia (€784), and Algar de Palància (€701). These grants are designated for municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
In Faura, the subsidy will be used to purchase two cat capture cages, one cage with a detachable roof for containment and relocation, two transport carriers, two chip readers, and four feeder shelters. According to municipal sources, these shelters are the most expensive items and were commissioned from the company Cosmos 3D.
Canet d'en Berenguer will also use the grant to acquire feeder shelters, transport carriers, leashes, muzzles, and chip readers, suitable for both dogs and cats. Other eligible expenses include the purchase of capture nets or mechanisms for socialization parks. The goal is to make animal management by municipalities "progressively safer for humans, dogs, and cats."
The Provincial Council's resolution, which allocated €750,000 of the reserved €1 million, also notes that Petrés applied for the aid but was denied because its feral cat colony management project did not fall within the eligible activities.
The remaining municipalities in El Camp de Morvedre, with the exception of Sagunt, did not apply for this aid, although they had a pre-allocated amount based on their population. Gilet could have received over €5,000, Algímia d'Alfara €1,428, Torres Torres €970, Benavites €855, and Segart €500.
