The presence of Colombian citizens in Sagunto has more than tripled in recent years, becoming the most numerous foreign nationality in the municipality. This trend has displaced the Romanian population, which previously held this position.
According to the latest census data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Colombian population in Sagunto has increased by over five hundred people in the last year, approaching 2,250 residents. Since 2021, the South American presence has surged by 260%.
In contrast, the Romanian population has experienced a gradual decline, falling below 1,700 residents and moving to second place. The third most present nationality is Moroccan, with nearly 1,400 inhabitants, showing a slight increase compared to the previous year.
Other nationalities with a significant presence in Sagunto, exceeding 500 registered individuals, include Venezuela, Ukraine, Italy, Argentina, and Honduras. Continentally, the Americas account for the majority of the foreign population in Sagunto with 41.3% of the total, followed by Europe (38.1%), Africa (15.8%), and Asia (4.7%).
The INE also highlights that almost one in four registered individuals in Sagunto were born abroad. Furthermore, one in three inhabitants of Camp de Morvedre has resided in the same locality throughout their life, a percentage slightly above the regional and provincial averages. In this local rootedness classification, Quart leads with almost 40%.
