UMH Participates in Alicante Gastronómica Fair

The Miguel Hernández University (UMH), through the Higher Polytechnic School of Orihuela (EPSO) and the Didactic and Interactive Science Museum of Vega Baja del Segura (MUDIC) Jesús Carnicer, will participate in the Alicante Gastronómica fair, held from October 2nd to 5th at the Institución Ferial Alicantina (IFA).

The UMH's EPSO will set up a stand showcasing projects from the Center for Agri-food and Agro-environmental Research and Innovation (CIAGRO) and promoting the university's Bachelor's and Master's degrees. The director of EPSO, Juan Martínez Tomé, will serve as a judge in the IV Hotelery Schools Competition, Sala specialty. Additionally, professors Irene Arias and David López Lluch will organize a wine tasting featuring wines made by winemakers trained in the UMH's Master's in Viticulture and Enology.
The MUDIC and the UMH will offer workshops for schoolchildren under the theme 'Science in the Kitchen'. The 'Molecular Cuisine: Making Spherifications' workshop will introduce participants to molecular gastronomy, teaching them how to create liquid spheres. The second workshop, 'Making Instant Homemade Ice Cream', will demonstrate the physical and chemical principles for transforming a liquid mixture into ice cream in seconds.
The rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz, will attend the event's inauguration.
