The Elche City Council is moving forward with its commitment to implement the Professional Career for municipal workers. Following the approval of the Horizontal Professional Career and Performance Evaluation Regulations, an extraordinary enrollment process has been initiated for public employees who wish to access this system.
According to the Councilor for Human Resources, Juan de Dios Navarro, the registration deadline is September 7. To date, 1,500 out of approximately 2,000 public employees at the Elche City Council have registered, representing 75% of the total.
Navarro highlighted that the Professional Career addresses a "historic and fair demand" from the workers, as it will allow their performance to be compensated based on the achievement of objectives and competencies. This system aims to streamline and modernize local administration, improving the quality of public services.
It is considered a "revolution" in Human Resources to achieve a "more effective, efficient, and agile" administration, recognizing the employees' work and offering better citizen service. Once the enrollment period closes, the ordinary call will be approved, and individual evaluations will commence in October.
The Professional Career will be progressively implemented over five years, with a total budget of 10 million euros, of which 3.5 million will be allocated to the first year. The model annually evaluates the achievement of objectives, competencies, knowledge, and work quality to enhance the organizational structure and the effectiveness of public service.
