A Civil Guard operation in Torrevieja, Alicante province, has led to the dismantling of a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking. Fourteen individuals, eight men and six women aged between 25 and 77, have been arrested. Additionally, four properties linked to the illicit activity were searched.
The detainees are accused of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization. After appearing before the judicial authorities, all have been released provisionally with precautionary measures imposed.
The investigation was initiated following complaints from local residents who reported an active drug dealing point in a building within the town. Residents had observed a constant flow of supposed buyers, strong odors, and noises emanating from the building, along with an increase in reports of petty theft and altercations, creating a climate of insecurity.
Investigations by the Civil Guard's Investigation Area in Torrevieja identified four residences associated with the group. Two of these were used for storing and distributing drugs, while the other two served as retail points for the narcotic substances, thus separating storage from public sales.
During the operational phase, officers conducted four simultaneous searches. The operation involved various specialized units, including the Citizen Security Units (USECIC) from Alicante and Torrevieja, the Reserve and Security Group (GRS) from Valencia, and the Cynological Service, utilizing dogs trained to detect drugs and money.
During the searches, officers seized 160 grams of cocaine, an additional 50.5 grams of the same substance, and 183 grams of marijuana. They also confiscated 975 euros in small denominations, a sum commonly associated with street-level drug dealing. Furthermore, two air compressed handguns, two cars, and a personal mobility vehicle were seized.
In one of the residences, various tools for processing and preparing the narcotic substances before distribution were found. Following police proceedings, the fourteen detainees were brought before the judicial authorities and released under precautionary measures.
