Ontinyent City Council has announced an extraordinary effort to ensure the joint performance of the Moorish march Chimo, offering 600 euros to each band that remains in the city.

The decision comes after weather conditions forced the suspension of the traditional Band Parade, an event that was scheduled to precede the main performance. Despite the cancellation, the council is maintaining the event at 8:30 PM, a key moment of the Moors and Christians festivities.
This year, the performance has special significance as it coincides with the centenary of the birth of the piece's composer, maestro José María Ferrero. His daughter is expected to conduct the anthem during this massive tribute.
With this financial contribution, the local government seeks to prevent musical groups from leaving the town and ensure the necessary presence to keep this emblematic event of the festive calendar alive.
