The city of Ontinyent begins its eagerly awaited Moors and Christians festivities this Thursday, August 20th, with two central events: the Band Parade and the Alardos Parade.

The festive day in Ontinyent starts at 6:00 PM with the Band Parade. The musical ensembles, which will accompany the troupes, will depart from Plaça de la Concepció and parade through Gomis and Maians streets to Plaça Major. This musical prelude offers one of the most traditional sights of the festival.
Upon completion of the parade at Plaça Major, all bands will jointly perform ‘Chimo’, the festival's emblematic piece. This year, the event holds special significance as it commemorates the centenary of the birth of its composer, maestro José María Ferrero Pastor, a key figure in local music and central to this year's celebrations.
In the evening, starting at 11:30 PM, the Alardos Parade will take place. The troupes will parade in a more relaxed manner to the rhythm of pasodobles through l’Almaig and Daniel Gil avenues, concluding at Plaça de la Concepció.
The program is complemented by live music. At 1:00 PM, the Textile Museum hosts the show by Rubén Terol, followed by a concert by Limboteque at 9:00 PM. Later, from 12:30 AM, the orchestra S.O.S. will perform at La Glorieta.
These events serve as preparation for Friday, August 21st, a day that includes the Children's Parade (11:00 AM), the Christian Faction Parade (6:00 PM), captained by the Estudiantes troupe, and the Moorish Faction Parade (10:00 PM), led by the Moros Marinos.
