According to data published by Labora, registered unemployment in La Safor stood at 9,309 people in July, a monthly increase of 2.53% compared to June. This upward trend has been observed in the number of unemployed individuals.
Compared to the same month in 2025, the situation shows an improvement, with 148 fewer unemployed people, representing an annual decrease of 1.25%. This year-on-year figure indicates a certain stability in the region's labor market.
Regarding hiring, 6,430 contracts were registered in July 2026, 22 more than the previous year, with an annual increase of 0.34%. Of these, 2,618 contracts were formalized for women (40.72%) and 3,812 for men (59.28%).
Permanent contracts account for 46.58% of the total (2,995 contracts), down 1.80% from last year, while temporary contracts reach 53.06% (3,412 contracts), up 2.16%. 42.78% of contracts were full-time and 57.22% were part-time.

Eduard Gómez, Regional General Secretary of UGT-PV, points out that this dynamic has been ongoing since 2008. He highlights that permanent contracts continue to hold significant weight, representing 46.58% of the total, a figure higher than before the labor reform.
Gómez calls for vigilance and for boosting the region's economy through pending reforms, a productive model based on quality employment, better wages, increased productivity, and reduced working hours. He also emphasizes the need to strengthen worker protection, adapting Spanish legislation to the European Social Charter regarding dismissal regulations and compensation for unfair dismissal.
