The Councilor for Sports of the Oliva City Council, Joan Mascarell, appeared at a press conference to provide information on the situation of the Camp El Morer irrigation system, after the presence of legionella was detected. The documentation presented confirms that El Morer is not a municipal facility; its ownership, as well as the preventive and corrective maintenance of the irrigation system, belongs to the Spanish Football Federation. The Oliva City Council has not received any request or notification from Health regarding the field's irrigation system.
The Conselleria de Sanitat (Health Department) conducted an initial inspection on August 14, 2025, at which time the Federation was requested to rectify a series of deficiencies detected in the irrigation system. Subsequently, U.D. Oliva formally received the rectification request in January. The club assumed the responsibilities corresponding to it, according to the agreement between both entities, and hired a specialized company to carry out the treatment, cleaning, and disinfection of the system, as well as the corresponding analyses.
In March of this year, the presence of legionella was detected, leading to the closure and sealing of the irrigation system. The Councilor for Sports, Joan Mascarell, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the system is not used again until all necessary actions are completed and all health guarantees are in place. He also pointed out the commitment to continue working with the club so that, as soon as possible, the Confederation authorizes the necessary arrangements to irrigate from the Poliesportiu's well.
