The main objective of this initiative is to promote responsible consumption and bring local production closer to the university community, thereby encouraging more sustainable consumption habits. To carry out the project, the campus collaborates with Horta El Forcall, an entity committed to organic farming and environmentally friendly practices.
Victoria Torres, the campus's Deputy Director of Quality, explains, “We want to bring organic, seasonal, and zero-kilometer products closer to the university community.” Borja Montalvà, from Horta El Forcall, emphasizes the importance of bringing local production closer to consumers, stating, “The goal is to facilitate access to fresh, quality food and raise awareness about the value of proximity farming.”
In addition to facilitating the purchase of fresh produce, this market helps to highlight the work of local producers and promote more conscious and sustainable consumption habits, while also encouraging the incorporation of seasonal products into daily diets.
The Gandia campus Organic Market will be held every fifteen days. The next edition will take place on Monday, November 9th, from 12:30 to 14:30, in front of the access doors of the Aulario (Building A) on campus.
