The award allows the project to resume, having been affected by rising costs and the termination of the previous contract. Mayor Sergi Ruiz highlighted that "today we can say that we have overcome these difficulties and that the new Town Hall is definitively back on track".
The renovation and expansion will double the usable area of the Town Hall, from the current 500 m² to 1,000 m². This will facilitate the reorganization of municipal services and improve citizen attention, staff work, and the holding of public events. "We are practically doubling the usable area and building a facility designed to meet Foios' needs for many decades to come," Ruiz pointed out.
The incorporation of Casa Vella, over 107 m², will provide a new hall for events and council meetings, which will also host investitures and civil weddings. The Nolla pavement will be preserved as an element of local heritage. "We are gaining space, gaining functionality, and recovering heritage," the mayor stated.
The awarded bid amounts to €3,306,943.07 (€2,733,010.80 excluding VAT). The company will also assume a 20-month extension to the warranty period and several improvements at no additional cost to the Town Hall.
The mayor framed this project within the transformation of Foios' major public facilities, which also includes the renovation of the new CEIP Mare de Déu del Patrocini. "In a few years, we are renovating two fundamental public buildings that will serve Foios for generations".
