Sueca is preparing for the inauguration of a pantheon dedicated to historical memory in the Municipal Cemetery, a project aimed at dignifying the remains of Civil War victims.

Construction work on the historical memory pantheon, located in the common grave of Sueca's Municipal Cemetery, is progressing as planned. This project, with a total cost of 46,486.34 euros, receives a subsidy of 37,189.07 euros from the Valencia Provincial Council, through its Democratic Memory area, and 9,297.27 euros from the Sueca City Council. The construction aims to honor and properly bury the remains of individuals executed and repressed during the Civil War.
As detailed by the Councilor for Democratic Memory, Sergi Tomàs, the works will conclude during this October. The pantheon will consist of three small-sized niche blocks designed to house the remains of the 54 identified bodies from Madrid. Tomàs indicated that families will later be able to decide whether the remains stay in Sueca or are transferred to their places of origin, such as Tavernes, Gandia, or Oliva. Additionally, the facility can accommodate remains of Sueca victims found in other common graves.
The councilor emphasized the importance of this space, describing it as "a place of justice and dignity, a space for reparation tailored to the memory deserved by those who were executed and their families." The pantheon's design includes a roof, two open entrances, a bench, and an area for offerings or written tributes. The original weathered plaques from the common grave will be preserved and restored.
