The properties, expropriated by the Castelló City Council for the construction of the ring road, now house illegal occupants. Two of the homes lack electricity or water supply, highlighting the precarious conditions in which their occupants live. The council is processing the necessary measures so that the third property also lacks access to these services.
Councilor Antonio Ortolá emphasized that the thwarted occupation attempts in the Grau area do not involve vulnerable families but rather a mafia, identifying them as the same groups that occupied a property in Marjaleria last June. Ortolá called for citizen collaboration to prevent these incidents, which cause unease and insecurity.
Furthermore, government spokesperson Vicent Sales (PP) and deputy spokesperson Antonio Ortolá (Vox) advocated for the importance of rootedness in public policies, in line with the national priority established in the budget of the Generalitat Valenciana. Sales stressed that priority will be given to those who have resided in the city for a longer time, as services and subsidies are financed with public funds. He cited as an example that associations registered for at least two years in the relevant municipal registry receive subsidies.
Ortolá echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of prioritizing those who contribute to the system for longer, regardless of their origin, nationality, or skin color.
