The Alzira City Council has organized for the upcoming August 12th a free activity to safely enjoy the solar eclipse, a notable astronomical phenomenon.

The event will take place at the Espai d’Oci La Fumiga, formerly known as the fairgrounds. To ensure attendee safety, certified glasses will be distributed free of charge to those who have pre-registered, while supplies last. Distribution will begin at 6:00 PM.
At 7:00 PM, an educational talk will commence, led by the astronomy entity Aquaignis. It will explain what a solar eclipse is, why it occurs, and the necessary safety measures for observation. Following this, a guided observation will be conducted, with specialists live-commenting on the phenomenon's phases. The moment of maximum solar ocultation is expected around 8:35 PM.
Attendees are advised to bring a mat or blanket for comfort and mosquito repellent.
Advance registration is mandatory and can be done through Tourist Info Alzira, in person, by calling 96 241 95 51, or by emailing turisme@alzira.es. Glasses will be handed out on the day of the event at Espai d’Oci La Fumiga.
The activity is free, and capacity will be limited by the number of certified glasses available.
