The fire, which broke out on Saturday morning in La Vall d'Uixó, southeast of the province of Castellón, started in several locations, leading to suspicions of arson. High temperatures and extreme dryness have worsened the situation.
Over 300 personnel, with 14 aerial units, are working to contain the fire. The meteorological situation, described as "very adverse" by AEMET, is hindering extinction efforts.
As a precautionary measure, residents of La Vilavella have been evacuated, and La Vall d'Uixó and Artana are under preventive confinement. Civil Protection has issued an ES-Alert message urging the public to remain in urban areas and avoid outdoor travel.
Amidst the emergency, a cattle farmer was forced to move his herd through the urban center of La Vall d'Uixó due to the proximity of smoke and flames. Emergency services also rescued a man trapped in a farm near the Castle of La Vall.
The spa of La Vilavella has been set up as a reception center for evacuated residents who have nowhere else to go. The Military Emergencies Unit (UME) has also deployed to the area to assist in extinction efforts.
The Government Delegate, Pilar Bernabé, and the President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, have joined the coordination efforts at the Advanced Command Post.
